If I’m ever in the position to spend $100k on a single car, I’d forgo buying any factory car and instead commission an RWB Porsche. Figure if you’re spending that much money you might as well make it your own, right?
Best part is the endless customization, so I’d try and channel the batshit-but-not-completely-insane spirit of the 934 and build one like this:
or this:
So nothing too crazy, unlike... whatever the hell this is:
I’d blend the fenders into the body (no exposed fasteners, plskthnx), paint it Stryker Purple like so:
throw the stock 3.8 from a 997.2 Carrera in the back, strip/cage/simpify and add lightness to the interior and call it a car.

I’d go for the new Alfa Giulia or whatever. The really quick one. Should be fine in the snow with right tires, right?
![]() 12/07/2015 at 21:21 |

That might cost a bit more than $100k.
I’d go with Bristol. One from the 60s with a Chrysler V8. Restored of course.

Damn I think an RWB really might be my dream car.. This one is getting ready to become a track monster. I think I would go for a stroked naturally aspirated flat six.. 400hp sounds good right?
![]() 12/07/2015 at 21:25 |

Id get a base Local Motors Rally Fighter. Their website says they start at 99.9K, so that’s in budget. I’m sure this thing could handle snow despite being RWD.
![]() 12/07/2015 at 21:26 |

One guy built his for 107 so it’s entirely plausible you could cut some costs here and there and get under 100. And a Bristol is an unexpected choice, though definitely a cool one.
![]() 12/07/2015 at 21:29 |
|
From what I’ve seen of a few RWB’s, curb weights are around 2200lb so 400hp should be more than enough to get the job done. Anything more and you’d end up with a bit of a handful.

I would take my 240Z and put an OS Giken Hakosuka motor in it ($30k), making it a Z432 clone, plus anything else I could do for the money without hurting the original car.

its crazy how 100k doesnt really get you much thats truly special these days. maybe a 997 turbo or gts. or hunt for a gt3, but is a gt3 really special if the gt3rs exists?
the (maybe just in my mind) really special 911s have all made their way north of 100k. and same is true for any ferrari <100k.
i suppose you could look around for an e type and restomod it to good driver condition for ~100.

At the rate that old 911s are going up in price, I’d spend how ever much it takes to get me into a 70s 911 RS Replica and call it a day. I remember seeing one go on BringATrailer for a reasonable (50-ish I think? High, but definitely reasonable) and I thought one day my dad would be able to get one. A couple years passed and NOPE.

jesus. 30k for that? you could probably 3D print that for 30k.

I’m going to have to betray my name and go with the F-type. Drop dead gorgeous to look at, to hear and to sit in. It just coddles you in luxury.

absolutely. i was only talking about used. 997s have not been in production for nearly 5 years. i’m saying the somewhat special 997s (turbos, gt3s, gts) are still over or pushing 100k. the really special 997s, gt3rs, gt2s, are well into six figures.

Too bad Porsche doesn’t make a successor to 953 or 911 Safari.
Like a 2015 Targa 4S on air suspension.
Maybe that Cayenne Turbo parked behind the 953 is looking a bit better... with adjustable air suspension, PDK, AWD, and every other acronym in the catalog.
I still want a 3-door coupe CUV, though.

If the Jag F-type came in Kyanite Blue... it would catapult it over Porsche on my list. A sweetly singing naturally aspirated well tuned V8, with RWD and a 6-speed stick would be awesome, but AWD V8, or RWD-6MT-V6Supercharged isn’t bad, either.
![]() 12/08/2015 at 01:03 |

Well considering the budget here is $100k and an F-type is ~$70k, I’m sure if you toss enough of that remaining $30k at Jaguar they can make an exception for you ;)

if given $100K, I’d get my ass in a 2011 E63 AMG for about $45K, and spend about $45K making it in to exactly what I want it to be.
the other $10K would be for Gas to feed it.
(basic rundown of things to do:
-Built engine. bore/stroke out from 6.2L to 6.6L. make sure it is RELIABLE with this.
-Add a supercharger, and make it look as if it were OEM.
-Paint a very dark shade of metallic blue.
-custom set of wheels, either 19’s or 20’s (based of Hartmann Euromesh 4’s. Fronts 9” wide, rear 10.5” wide.) paint center of wheel either Gunmetal grey or body-color. polished lip.
-Slight stretch of body panels to fi this.
-Re-trim interior with lighter blue stitching, and Dark gray-Blue leather.
-Brakes. 6 piston with dual calipers and 14.1” rotors up front. 4-piston and 12.1” rotors in the rear.
-Re-do whole suspension to make it handle awesome, but ride exquisitely.
-Body-color, old school AMG-esque badging and grille.
-replace dual sunroofs with full-size glass roof, with active tint.
-LED taillights, similar pattern to stock.
-1,400+ Watt sound system, but looks OEM.
-Infotainment setup from 2016 E63 AMG.
-Licence plate that reads MYSTIKL.)

Is the 997 the one with the slightly different shaped headlights that everyone seemed to freak out about?
![]() 12/08/2015 at 13:36 |
|
the 997 is when the design returned to round/oval.
the 996 had the funny headlights that were an homage to the 1-2 overall finish at lemans.
as the 996 was the first water cooled 911 (but had those lights), and the 991 (which came after the 997) introduced electric steering and became arguably huge, many think the 997 is the best modern driver’s 911.
of course all of this is subjective. they’re all great cars. :)

If I still had to be somewhat practical and drive long distances, I would go for an Aston V8 Vantage. Sporty, incredible sounding, luxurious and enough power to have fun. But if practicality wasn’t a factor, I’d do either a 997 GT3 or RWB.
